Abstract
This chapter describes the conservation of the important eighteenth century garden at Stourhead and discusses the careful and considered management of change to protect its significance. Informed by the plans and policies in the CMP and guided by conversations with internal advisers and curators an analysis of various descriptions, pictures and paintings gave visual direction for the improvements that followed. Any work undertaken has been to reveal the significance of the place; understand, share and honour its past, in order to protect it now and to secure its future.
